♦ Write 3 examples of games that can be played inside the house.

They were children who had received training from their parents to live in areas close to the forest. They were trained to survive by eating fruits, hunting and fishing.

♦ Sprain
Sprain is the injury to the ligament.
Symptoms:
• Severe pain
• Restricted moments
• Swelling around the affected area

♦ Strain
A strain is an injury to muscles or tendons.
Symptoms:
• Severe pain
• Discolouration of skin in the affected area
• Swelling around the affected area
• Restricted movements

♦ What is the first aid for abrasions caused by falling while playing or otherwise? 
Clean the wound using pure water and soap. Apply an antibiotic cream and cover it with a bandage.

♦ What is the first aid for a Contusion? 
Apply an ice pack for 10 minutes or pour plenty of cold water over the area for 15 minutes. Wrap the area with a bandage.

♦ Assessment
I. Mark the following statements as true or false using a tick (✔) mark.
1. Do not apply ice for muscle cramps.

2. First Aid should be given for injuries that happen during a game.

3. First Aid is the immediate care given before seeking medical assistance.

II. Answer the following.
1. Write a note on PRICE, the First Aid procedure given for sprain/strain.
The term 'PRICE' introduces the First Aid procedures administered for sprain or strain. P - Protect (protect the injury from further damage). Sprain is the injury to the ligament. Severe pain, swelling around the affected area, restricted movements etc. are the symptoms of sprain. A strain is an injury to muscles or tendons. Severe pain, discolouration of skin in the affected area, swelling around the affected area, restricted move- ments etc. are the symptoms of strain. 
• P - Protect
• R-Rest (give rest)
• I - Ice (ice wrapped in a cloth shall be applied on the affected area)
• C - Compress (compress or bandage the injured area firmly)
• E - Elevate (Elevate the affected area to reduce swelling).
PRICE reminds us these are the first aid measures for the sprain and strain.

2. Write down the main causes of muscle cramps.
• Dehydration 
• Vitamin and mineral deficiency, 
• Muscle fatigue, 
• Extreme cold/heat, 
• Lack of warming up/cooling down, 
• Intensive training without rest, 
• Ending a work without proper cooling down

3. Write down examples of abilities that can be achieved through sports.
Games help in developing social benefits such as cooperation, leadership skills, discipline, following rules, accepting victories and defeats equally. The ability to face challenges, thinking skill etc., increases. Games provide opportunities to maintain happiness and positive thinking. Through games and physical activities, it is possible to improve muscle strength, to improve cardio-respiratory fitness, and increase overall physical fitness.
